That's wierd. Those sound like "full-time 4WD" settings, but the 231HD case
is a part time unit (I have it in mine and it's just got the 2hi, 4hi, N,
4lo). My 74 Ramcharger is Full Time and has Hi, Hi Loc, N, Lo, and Lo Loc.
The only diiference between the "Loc" positions and the others is that the
203 case has a "differential" in it that allows "slippage" between the front
and rear. The Loc position locks that out so there's no slippage.

The 242 Full time case isn't available on the '00 models I don't think, but
has the same settings as the 231 with the addition of a 4hi-full time
setting. (am I right?).

Unless it's a typo, I've never heard of that.
