It's not really all that uncommon for some of the old fwd Shelby cars to be
that fast with a little tweaking. A few years ago I built an 82 Plymouth
Turismo (Plymouth version of the Charger) to build into an autocross car. I
yanked the stock 83 hp carbed 2.2, and installed a 2.2 turbo I engine/5 spd
out of a 85 Omni GLH along with a MP computer, K&N system and 2.5" exhaust
pipe (no cat or muffler) off the turbocharger. I could smoke my brother's
Shelby GLHS (intercooled turbo) which would do mid-14's. I beat a guy from
my high school in his 350 Camaro with three people and my dog in the car!!
Other than the autcross springs and roll cage it was a total sleeper.
Should have never sold that thing!
