Some other "Real World Proof" examples:
K&N ran a few Dyno tests with their Gen-II system on the 1998 Grand Cherokee
"Special Edition" (360CID). They recorded a 25HP gain...with the stock
hood.
Granatelli's had sold a Cold Air System for the 5.0L Mustangs a long time
ago. We were, at that time, seeing consistent e.t. improvements with just
that alone (back in 1993). No fancy hoods either.
The SLP Camaro (1999) has a "Ram-Air" hood but if you look at the way the
tubes are routed (more than 2 bends on each side), it's just a Cold Air
system.
Take a look at the DML posts about the QuickD, Gen-II, and "Homebrew"
systems. All show improvements...why? Cooler intake charge...that's it.
I'm not trying to state that those hoods are not worth it, some actually
look really good. But they are just not capable of providing any type of
"Ram-Air". Only Cold Air...and that is the reason for the performance
improvements.
