Take overdrive off.

Drive around the water pit and back up for more room but with rear tires
still on dry pavement.

Step on brake pedal, put gear into 2nd, bring revs up until brakes
cannot hold truck, release brake pedal and give it a bit more gas,
brake and get off the gas pedal. You just want to spin the tires
a bit to clean off the stones, etc.

Put gear into 1st and roll slowing to staging lights. Brake when
the top light lights.

Release brake pedal a little and let truck roll a tiny bit until
2nd light lights, brake immediately and hold brake pedal down.

Gradually get on the gas pedal but not so much that the brakes will
not hold (should be around 1700 rpms). Hold gas pedal there.

Focus on the tree and take a deep breath. (Don't worry about your
reaction times on your first time at the track and ignore anyone
in the lane next to you.)

When 3rd amber lights, release brake pedal, let it roll a split second, put
the gas pedal to the metal. Shift 1-2 at about 4500 rpm, and
2-3 at same rpms. If you overshift into Drive on the 1-2 (easy to do),
just let the tranny do the shifting down the track. Don't lift off
the gas until you've crossed the line at the end.

Good luck and enjoy!
