I've been following this tranny thread with some interest, as I'm
trying to decide what tranny I want to use in my Dak in the future.
Is a 904 stronger than a 727? Would it be possible to grab a 44RE out
of a Ram and have it beefed up, or should I go with a competition
904? The appealing thing about the 44RE is the overdrive. (although I
guess it doesn't matter if a 904 can be built with an overdrive, I
could just go that route.) I assume if I were to use the 44RE I'd
need an electrical way of shifting gears though? I was sort've leaning
toward a compeition 904 with a reverse pattern, manual valve body, and
possibly a transbrake. (This would be for a '96 club cab, daily
driven, and looking for 11's at the track.)
I saw an ad in Mopar Action from some company selling 904s saying
that the HEMI Dak uses a 904, so it seems like it can take the HP
(or it can be built to take it anyway)
