OK I am sorry I started this Vette vs. Viper thing! One thing I will say is I am not 30 yet and I have owned a Testarossa (mean, mean, mean, car) and driven it at 148mph. I have owned many "old" mussel cars ('73 & '78 T/A, 68 & 69 Camaro, 69 RoadRunner, and low and behold even a Barracuda with the original Hemi that I rebuilt). I have rented a Prowler for 2 weeks and a Viper for 1 week. ALL I WAS TRYING TO SAY IS THAT I AM NOT A "MID-LIFE CRISIS" MAN NOR DO I DRIVE MY CARS LIKE MISS DAISY --- I BOUGHT THE VETTE BECAUSE IT (IN MY EYES) OVER ALL OUT PERFORMED THE VIPER. I had the Viper to 150MPH and my Vette to 155MPH I gave them both the same distance and the Vette came in 5mph faster. NO I AM NOT SAYING IT IS BETTER OR WORSE-- I AM SAYING I LOVE MY VETTE, IT KICKS ASS AND IS COMFORTABLE. IT IS A YEAR OLD WITH 14,000 MILES ON IT. FUN MILES.
So when I say it turns heads it probably has to do some with a "kid" driving it down the road. Once again I am sorry for trying to "compare" but I was not trying to compare. Oh and BTW my young ass will soon be in a F50! May buy it, may not. I'll see if it is too "dogged" if not I will be running it very hard also. So in general their is always a faster car (cheaper or more expensive)that will out run another car, it all boils down to Drive FAST, FAST, FAST! and have fun. And also I tell you there is no Voyager or Neon or Camaro on the road in my area that I will let put my Vette to shame (highway or back, bumpy winding raod.
I ALSO LOVE MY DAKOTA!
One more thing -- look up Callaway's version of the Vette -- called the SLEDGEHAMMER -- 880 HP! not too bad for a Chevy 350. Very interesting article if you like speed and power.
