     Yes, I think you need a pyrometer and an accurate tire guages to make
sure your tires are perfectly inflated. Just like you need a micrometer to
measure accurately, not a tape measure. Is it overkill? Depends on the
situation.
     I believe this thread and the tire pyrometer discussion started out as
a track/drag thing. The point was brought up that it'd be a nice item for a
club to own. As for running down the freeway, it's unnecessary but a nice
tire guage wouldn't hurt anything.
     Some people like the peace of mind of owning nice things... quality
tools, quality stereos, etc. and price is secondary (to a degree). There
is nothing wrong with that. While you may consider it unnecessary, there is
some satisfaction in owning nice things. So many times have I been under my
truck with busted knuckles, cursing under my breath, and I look at my hand I
say, "Damn, thats a nice wrench." It kinda relaxes me and lets me collect
myself.
     Some people like the cheap way out.... those people drive 4.7s. Thats
a joke. Don't hate me.
