Just some additional input here.....maybe the chime is going off to tell
you it is time to fill up. Gasoline not only provides power to the engine,
but also lubricates and cools the fuel pump module assembly. My 93 Dak, now
at 115,000 miles is on its 4th fuel pump module. I used to run the tank down
all the way and wouldnt fill up till the 'low gas light' came on. The last
pump module was put in at 85,000 miles and no problems yet. Since that
85,000 mile marker though, I NEVER let the gas guage go below 1/4 tank mark.
Just so that I know there is plenty of gas lubricating and cooling the good
ole' crappy Carter Pump. I dont want to drop the tank for the 3rd time(first
one was replaced under warranty, last 2 I did myself)! I mean it is not hard
to do at all, about a 2-3 hour job total. Just something to think about.
