The challenge is to take something that was not designed to handle and make
it handle (or go fast, etc). For example, it is easy to take a 4x4 that is
designed for off-road and improve its off-road prowess. But it is not easy
to take a 4x4 that is designed for off-road and make it handle on-road.
Just like there is less challenge in improving a Ferrari's handling
capability than there is in improving a Dakota's handling ability. I think
the backbone to the original story of F355 vs. Dakota was that the Dakota
wasn't embarrassed like it could have been thanks to the owners
improvements.
