1999 SALES-SMALL COMPACT TRUCKS

1: Ford Ranger 340,253 (up by 13 percent)
2: Chevy S-10 283,668 (up by 4 percent)
3: Toyota Pickup 155,476 (up by .5 percent)
4: Dodge Dakota 100,753 (down by 54 percent)
5: Nissan Pickup 96,301 (down by 2 percent)

Foreign automakers had 54 percent of the U.S. compact pickup market in 1986.
In 1999, foreign automakers' share had eroded to 27.6 percent.
