Go to the local hardware store. Pick up some cotton shop rags and a quart
of paint thinner. Go to an auto parts store and grab three cans of "high
heat 500 degree F" chassis black spray paint. Go home and wipe down
everything you want to paint with paint thinner to remove all dirt and
oil/grease (don't touch the metal after you wipe it). Spray two to three
coats of paint following the paint instructions for proper dry time between
coats.

All it will cost is probably $15 in supplies and a couple hours of work.
