Well I have a 2000 4.7 5spd CC 4x4, and in the first 1000 miles I had the
same idle problem and it would stall at every stop sign.
It has not stalled after I took it to the dealer, who instructed to only
use 87 octane and also said this is normal operation for new engine
(hrmmm??)
It still does that idle search thingy and it makes me uncomfortable cause
sometimes i feel its going to stall before it settles down at 600rpm, like
yours. I'm thinking of taking it back to the dealer again.
I currrently have 1300 miles on it.
By the way, thats a nice truck!
