Techs don't like it when you run through the waterbox with street tires
(tires with tread - as in not slicks).

The water allows the slicks to slip. Slicks are not supposed to slip when
dry, which is the purpose of them. The water breaks them loose, allowing
you to spin them up to get the rubber hot so it sticks to the ground
better, and to clean them off. Street tires can just be spun dry to clean
them off.

With slicks, roll through the waterbox, once clear and out of the water,
light 'em up. Go slow through the waterbox, to keep water off the wheel wells.
