Bernd,
Its not "pencil" shaped like a Hayden sensor. This thing is about the
diameter of a nickel and about 3/4" deep. It has a wire coiled around it
with two offset ears for mounting. It has a lot to be desired in its
design. I'll send you a little .bmp of it so you can see what I am talking
about. If anyone else wants to see what it looks like, shoot me message and
I'll sent it to you.

If it hasthe brass sensor, stick it through the radiator fins as close to
the upper hose as possible. (Put a dab of silicone on each end to keep it
from moving around.) Make sure that there's a little bit of slack in the
brass wire as well...it's hollow and you don't want to break it. I
installed mine (Hayden model) on the drivers-side fender right next to the
battery and it has plenty of slack in the wire.
