   If I had to do it again - I would go ahead and pull off the front cover and
change cam as well as a timing chain and gears (mine has 80+K miles). Look at
the billet gears and chain at http://www.hughesengines.com . Considering you
will be on the sniffer soon - I might would even consider taking the heads off to
inspect/clean the piston tops and combustion chambers of potential carbon
deposits. If you get that far - may as well do some port unshrouding which I
understand helps performance alot. MP porting templates are cheap - you could
probably find someone with a dremel tool and stones if you don't already have
them.
   The swap gave me so much confidence that I'm considering doing this anyway -
just need the time for the truck to be down for a few days. Meanwhile I can be
collecting the parts (saving money 8-).
