Kyle,

I contacted MSD this morning. They recommended a couple of things.
1. Installing the noise capacitor. (MSD PN#8830) It runs for $39.95 at a local dealer.
2. Running the negative wire directly to the battery, as the ground in the body is not
sufficient.
3. Adding dielectric grease to all spark points. (in boot sleeves)
4. Making sure the battery has a good ground to the body and the engine.
5. (When I asked...) Adding RCA noise filters to my amplifier inputs for my stereo system.
Although #5 is was not "endorsed" by MSD, they said it probably wouldn't hurt.

I already ordered the capacitor. I will also "re-wire" the spliced points to make use of the wiring
kit to return to stock as you did. Thanks for the help. I'll keep you posted within the next week or so,
when everything is complete.

You may want to add a blurb on you web page about splicing the MSD universal kit. I did use you page
as a reference and found it to be very informative.

wires to the coil and added quick connect push connectors. The MSD seems to
be running fine but I just wanted to make sure I did this right.

anything I can do to eliminate this?

Mike,
I did have to do some splicing and soldering with the 8873 wiring harness to
get it to work the way it was meant to work, and I believe you will have to
do the same as it is not meant to be a plug in type of adapter. With it
properly installed, you should be able to run the MSD Ignition and you
should also be able to simply disconnect the 2 MSD connectors and plug back
in your 'stock' system. As far as the noise capacitor goes, I would HIGHLY
recommend installing MSD Noise Filter Capacitor, which Jeg's sells for about
$350-$40, this totally cut out the noise I was also getting from the MSD
Ignition. Let me know if you have any further questions. Good Luck,
Kyle
