First off, get rid of those quick connect thingamajigs and use a soldering
iron and some solder. Rough connections on high frequency devices act like
transmitter antennae. Second, buy a filter choke and put it on the feed
lines to the brain box. Third, route the plug wires so they cross only
perpendicular, if possible, to battery voltage wires. Do not run the wires
parallel to a battery positive wire. Some cheap wires when run parallel to
another wire actually induce noise into the other wire. It's called
inductive capacitance (even some high dollar plug wires are cheap in
construction and material). And fourth, put a large capacitor in parallel
with the positive and negative feeds to the MSD box. Something rated for
20 to 30 Volts DC and at least 10,000uF. Should run you about $5 for a
10,000uF Electrolytic Cap and around $12 for a 20,000uF. One last thing,
check your grounds. Grounding is a major issue with EMI
interference. Keep the ground of the MSD isolated from any other ground,
and do not connect it directly to the battery negative. Ground it to a
body support or frame and at least two feet from any other ground
connection. Make sure the negative cable is connected to the engine block
well and the frame.
