I went to a performance muffler shop to have my tips welded on. They
suggested I replace the cat with a "test tube". I suggested a Hi flow cat
and his response was, "a test tube is pretty hi flow!"
This is on an obviously brand new truck in Kalifornia. And I didn't even
bring up the idea! If half the employees didn't appear to be possible
illegal aliens, I would have thought entrapment!
Moral of the story? Try different shops!

| Kyle, I would think they would replace the cat for you. But I've seen
| some very paranoid shop owners when it comes to touching a cat. If
| the cat is defective they will replace it no problem. So if they
| don't want to do it, take a screwdriver and hammer several holes into
| your cat, then say "uhh, I like need a new cat dude, can ya put this
| one on for me".....
