It's not a Dakota.. I'm horse trading for a low milage 98 as
I type this. It's a 91 Syclone. All stock, except for a chip (made by me)
it turned 12.50s. That is with the factory all season radials and catalytic
convertor. The stock ones turn mid 13's.
For the Dak, I have a MUCH better turbo.. It's TE62 from a
10 second typhoon. The reason I was attracted to the Dak 6cyl
is that the ports are phenomenal compared to those in the GMC 4.3..
That is especially true for the intake side of the head. I know this will
put many listers to sleep, but looking at the merits of the engine, I think
I can put a 6 cyl dak in the 12's that will still pass the somewhat rigorous
tailpipe test we have in NE Ohio. I have several fuel computers that can
pick up the fuel duty under boost, and the TE62 is good for 600 HP if
the fuel is there. If the TE62 proves too large (.82 housing) I have
a spre syclone turbo, or for a "dual" install I have two 2.0 liter talon
turbos.. Due to the parasitic losses of 4wd I'm opting for 2wd.
My AWD Syclone is 10mph slower than other 2wd 12.50 cars..
Right now, my delemma is whether to keep looking for a clubcab, or
buy the 98 reg-cab that is staring me in the face on my friend's lot.
Does anyone know how much more a CC weighs than a RC?
