A friend of mine was involved in an accident (97 Dakota) which resulted in a
good deal of front end damage. The accident was deamed 100% the other
driver's fault (they ran a stop sign)
Anyway, now my buddy is telling me that his insurance company is looking for
quotes on aftermarket parts to replace the damaged ones (even though his
insurance company isn't footing the bill....the other guys is). He
supposedly demanded they replace everything with original OEM parts and his
insurance company rep told him that "by law" the insurance company must seek
aftermarket parts unless it can be "proven" that they will not fit properly!
This sounds like a bunch of HORS*&T to me! I thought we as consumers had a
right to DEMAND OEM parts??
Well I told him I would post this info with the group and see if any of you
had input. If you have any references to laws on the books, or who he should
start calling so he doesn't get raked over the coals.
Worst part is, not only was it the other drivers fault, he hasn't even
finished paying his truck off!!
Thanks all,
Kevin Hoegen
