I may sound like a broke record, but when my '98 was doing this it turned out
to be as simple as corrosion/poor contact with the battery cables. Once
cleaned and tightened down I haven't had a problem since.
Good luck.

The computers for auto. and manual are different.
I would pull the throttle body and the Idle Air Controller sensor, and clean
the carbon deposit off with tb cleaner (I recall reading that there is
something
in carb cleaner that not aok with a tb (?)) first and see if this solves your
stalling problem.
If you're absolutely sure that the ignition system (plug wires, coil wires,
distributor,
rotor) is up to snuff and the above does not eliminate the stalling, you
need see if
sensors are up to snuff. If you've been losing power and mpg has been
getting worst
as well, first sensor I would check is the O2 sensor. If power and mpg has
been
normal (for your truck), I would check the IAC sensor's output.
Hope this helps.
