Fuel Hose/Line Question

This pertains to rubber fuel hoses, not the metal lines:
On my Dak, where the fuel line comes out of the fuel filter(forward towards
the engine) this line is metal; except of course at the fuel filter
connection. Where the metal fuel line ends, around the bottom of the
firewall area, there used to be a braided type of flexible fuel hose which
connected the bottom metal fuel line to the fuel line around the top of the
firewall. Well this braided hose developed a leak around the end coupler
about 2 years ago, so I went out and bought some fuel hose and slapped it
over the flared metal fuel line(s) at both the bottom and top of the
firewall. I used 2 hose clamps at each end and this has worked great since I
fixed it. I hope this explanation wasn't too confusing!! I looked at this
hose today and it has developed lines all over the hose which appear to be
long cracks running parallel with the hose. I know a gas leak and gas lines
are nothing to joke about, so I want to replace this with a new fresh hose.
I mean it took me like 10 minutes to take the old line off, $4, and about 5
minutes to put the new hose one, so I want to fix this ASAP. Is there any
hoses out there I can look for which may hold up better?? I was thinking
about using some double walled hydraulic hose, just wasn't sure if this is
acceptable for gasoline. I know I can go down the Pep Boys and get the fuel
hose they sell by the foot, but I wasnt sure if there was anything better
out there. Any ideas?
