There a couple of great posts here about stall speed. Let me add one
concern/comment about what the origianl poster was told by the tranny
company.
They said the converter would make your shifts harder. A "loose" converter
will mask hard shifts at lower rpms. Make them feel down right squishy!
The converter should not have an effect on high rpm shifts but they do as
most high rpm stall speed converters are not very efficient (they slip even
at high rpm).
My guess is what the seller meant was his high stall converter would give
better feeling shifts than the competition's high stall converter. As in,
"Hey! ours is more efficient at the top end" a claim they all like to
make these days, but unfortunately few can validly make.
Even a good high stall converter will soften the shifts some over a stock
converter.
