I got the pipes from the muffler back with tips for $180. I thought this
price was very reasonable, especially considering the excellent job he did.

If I could make one recommendation, as I did go to someone you trust or to a
local speed shop and ask who does good exhaust work. Like anything else, you
can have a joe schoe do it and find out later that there's no room to get
your spare out..................DOH!!

Just my .02

P.S. I noticed (as in the past) that when a V6er ask an exhaust question,
many of the replies are from those who have V8s. I think those who know will
agree that with respect to exhaust issues, they are two different animals.
What sounds and performs great with a V8 may sound shitty with a V6. Plus we
have to work a little harder to get that "mellow tone", so choosing the
right setup is important.

another .02

total .04. If ya need more info Alex, feel free to contact me off list

Hi all --

Planning the exhaust upgrade, and I'd like to get this nailed down.

Gibson uses 2.5" outs for the split rear catbacks for all engines. Is this
just a matter of standardization, or does it really not make much
difference?

I noticed Hoegen had a split-rear exhaust built with dual 2" outs for his
3.9, and I've seen others recommend 2-1/4". Anyone have any factual data
and/or recommendations on what's really at stake here performance-wise?

P.S. Hoegen, how much did the muffler shop charge you to do the exhaust?

TIA,

- Alex
