Jeff,
While my Dak does handle exceptionally well in the winter, I still put some
weight back there during the winter months. I made a little 'box' out of
treated 2"x6"s. I ran one 2x6 across the bed in front of the wheel well
cutouts and another 2x6 across the bed but this time behind the wheel well
cutouts. I cut 2 pieces of the 2x6 so that they run next to the wheel well
cutouts and connect to the front and rear 2x6s running across the bed. I
used decking braces to secure them all together. This box basically fits
right over the rear axle, where weight/traction is needed. It almost forms a
funky 'H' shaped box. I put 4-80lb bags of sand in this box; local hardware
stores carry these bags in my area for about $4 per bag. I simply remove
this box and store it until winter comes. Hope this helps and my description
wasnt too confusing!
