I have been thinking of machining a new air hat for my
99 3.9 to make optimum use of the K&N po' boy air
intake system; and would like some imput from the
knowlege and experience base of the DML.
Several questions come to mind.
1. is there a reason air is supplied at a 90 degree
angle to the center line of the TB.
2. Are the four tabs sticking up around the perimiter
of the TB important beyond aligning the existing air
hat, and could they also be removed to aid in air
flow.
3. Has an optimum volume been set to optimize flow
into the TB.
4. The angled top of the air hat; what does that do
beyound forcing the air down at the oppisite side from
intake.
I plan on machining this in two pieces. one being a
base plate, and the second being a hat with intake
tube.
If it works out these could be molded on composite, or
injection molded if enough DAKers are interested.
My goal is to get rid of that 45 degree bend in the
imput tube and balance the air flow into the TB.
By using a seperate base plate this one unit can be
supplied for all the DAK TBs.
