It's an interesting article...and the author contradicts himself several
times as well. So, "...recognizes the possibility of a problem with Dodge
truck 5.9-liter V8 water pumps"...so I guess it's ok for the 5.2L water pump
then?!? What kinda crap is that?
It's true though...if you're going to use the "Orange Stuff" (as some people
call it), completely flush the system with water...don't just add it in
unless it's only for a short period of time.
I've been running the Havoline "Orange Stuff" since mid 1998 without any
problems to the cooling system. And yes, i've checked it several
times...including the water pump. No corrosion or damage. (Granted, I also
change out the fluid every year.) My wife's Jeep also runs the same stuff
since late '98 and again...no problems.
It's interesting to see how people suddenly jump on the "Environmentally and
Mechanically Unsafe" Bandwagon.
