I'd look for other causes of the oil consumprion before I dove into the 318.
The magnum heads use a positive valve stem seal, and I'd be VERY suprised
that it was using oil through the heads. Rings maybe, but doubtful on the
heads. It could be a bad belly pan gasket, or bad intake gasket sucking oil
in through the lifter valley. I'd look into it a little deeper before I tore
deep into the engine or looked into swapping in a 360. My 1996 has 108,250
miles on it and uses no oil (yet).
