Not sure if my ABS is working

I've got the rear-only ABS on my '99, but I'm not convinced it's
working. I've messed around with the truck in the snow, intentionally
locking up the brakes (or trying). I expect to feel a pulsation in the
brake pedal, or hear/feel the brakes pumping, but I'm not feeling
anything. Am I not locking up, or is the system that smooth?
