How do you spell HP? HORSEPOWER.

The stock 4.7 is more powerful per liter than what is being advertised than
the 5.9 stock. The internal mods are not required as with the 5.9 (example:
rockers, rods etc). External mods added will surpass the 5.9 in both HP/TQ
per liter. The engine was detuned to not take away the 5.9 marketing scheme
from Chrysler. Lighter motor, hemi shaped combustion, forged rods and so
forth. Parts are coming on-line as we speak since it is now the 2002 Ram
motor, Jeep HO engine, and next year 2002 R/T.
The TQ and HP curve are much more flatter and longer duration than the 5.9
through out the RPM.

Anything else.

Oh! This was the last year of the 5.9.

Now for that 450HP/490TQ Viper motor for my Daskter.

I know some here want this thread to die, but the man asked a question
and deserves an answer. The comparison above is not a fair one,
because the two trucks have different transmissions. Let's stick with
autos for this thread, since it's an auto the man wants to buy. I
just read Bernd's post. He starts out recommending the 4.7, unless
you want to modify, in which case he makes a great case for the 5.9.
But I can't see where he makes a case for sticking with the 4.7 if you
don't plan to modify.

Let's say you don't plan to modify the engine at all. What is the
advantage of the 4.7 over the 5.9, assuming a quad-cab auto either
way? More power? I don't think so. Better gas mileage? Maybe, can
anyone answer this? Newer technology? Not necessarily a good thing,
IMO, as there's something to be said for proven technology in a
vehicle. I know there are a lot of strong opinions on the list about
this, but aside from being able to get the 4.7 with a 5-speed, what
other advantages are there for the 4.7 over the 5.9?

I sympathize with those who hate this thread, but I think the choice
between a 4.7 and a 5.9 in a QC Auto is a valid question for this
group, and really, not an easy one to answer.
