I've got a 2001 4x4 CC 4.7 with just over 2000 mi, and I'm averaging
right at 13.3, with no mods (yet) and driving habits of:
5 days a week 4 mile city trip to and from work
Weekends are usually a 50 mile highway trip on friday and sunday and
usually 2-4 20 mile trips on back roads with a couple of miles of city
driving in between. (Stupid second job, why are you 50 miles away?)
My best tank so far has been 15.3, mostly highway following about 25
feet behind a Greyhound bus going 75 mph and with a 30-40 mph tail
wind on the return trip.
I've been trying to keep the motor under 2000 RPM, but it's just so
hard to do with snow and the first rwd vehicle I've ever owned.
I'm planning to go synthetic at 6000 mi, and I'll probably pull my
plugs out and replace them at the same time, as long as it's warm
outside. Maybe I'll even do a Z-tube this summer.
