If you have neither an axle disconnect nor hubs the front driveshaft will
be turning anyways. Take a look at the front of a 97+ Jeep Wrangler. No
hubs, no disconnect, front shaft always turns. There are also many of these
running a front locker with no apparent effects on the street in 2wd.
