    I guessing the radius is 1/4". The 3/8" is the length of the return
(after the bend). Check out

uninstalled SS grilles.
    The plywood jig sounds like an excellent idea. Since you are planning on
painting the grilles, do you have access to torches or a propane torch to
make the bending easier?
