Steve,
Sounds like it might be a sticking thermostat. Pressure may be making it
open when you rev it up. Check your oil on the dip stick if it's white or
milky and check for steam in the exhaust after it's hot. these are signs of
water getting into cylinders or into the crankcase. Bill
