Fortunately, I don't have to decide 'cause I have a 4x4 with a locked up rear
diff. (Powertrax No-Slip)... No problems with the locker so far and I didn't
think the noise was excessive. A little clunk or click every now and again
which is a small price to pay, IMO, for the increased traction.
Definitely have to learn the quirks of a locker, especially on the snow or
ice... The ass-end really likes to kick out fast if you get 'em spinning. Not
a problem in most places but I've had a few close calls when taking off from a
parking space with cars on either side of me. Didn't notice the ice under the
tires and she started side stepping with very little throttle... Thankfully I
was paying attention (got off the gas quick) and nobody but you and I know about
the close call. ;-)

I wouldnt go that far, in situation with little to no traction, a posi would
allow both you rear tires to spin, a 4x with open diffs would have a front
and a rear spinnin, I don't really think it'd be all that much better... I
persoanlyl run a True Trak,a dn love it, after getting on it for a long time
(like a FAST highway drive) it clunks on the first turn till it loostens
back up, but other than that it's great, ahven't really had any problem in
rain/snow. I have actually foudn it to be quite helpful in snow, atleast
once you get stuck, ebcuase you got tow wheels fightin the battle, instead of
jsut one...
