The problem you'd have is getting the insurance company to pay for custom
stuff they didn't know about. I'm sure it's in the fine print of the
policy.

The small stuff are alright with me, I don't mind loosing an FIPK or
something, but I am worried about my new 13k engine, 7k paint job, and other
custom stuff I have.

I was just informed that I should not tell my insurance company because I
would be charged a TON more. and that I should just save all receipts and
such.

Anyone ever been through something like this after an accident?

Thanks,

: Most insurance companies require a statement listing each one of the
: modified items and a receipt showing the cost of those items, including
any
: installation costs, if any. Some companies will issue a rider for some
: items such as stereo systems and any other systems that didn't come on the
: vehicle. For example, my insurance company covers the TB, the K&N FIPK,
the
: Borla cat back, the Mopar headers, and such, but I had to pay extra to
cover
: the grill guard, nerf steps, and snug lid.

: Alright, after talking with some people, they made me realize that if I
get
: in an accident, my rig will be worth bluebook only, and I will get no
money
: for my new paint, seats, performance mods, hood, motor, and all the other
: stuff that I am modding or will mod.
: I know that alot of classic car owners get apraised value insurance, and I
: was wondering how I go about getting it apraised, and or how I get the
: insuance.
:
: I have state farm, and am 18.
:
: I have 1 accident that was my fault, I backed into a rice rocket in a dark
: alley at 2am @ 3mph. My tire killed his bumper and grille, but only 900
: bucks worth of damage. Anyways....
:
: I dont want to pay an arm and a leg for insurance, but I am willing to pay
a
: little more.
:
: Anyone in here been in an accident with alot of mods? What insurnace
company
: did you have, and how did they handle the replacement of non stock items.
:
: Thanks!
