Try the hall-effect sensor located inside the distributor. Kinda like a cam
reference sensor. Just tells the computer when to fire... a bad or
corroded one would probably do something like that.

My friend Joe just bought a 89 Dakota V6. It has a Chrysler rebuilt
engine with 30K. It runs great, starts right up for maybe 2 days - THEN
- it just won't start. Wait 8 to 10 hours and it starts right up and
runs fine. We traced the problem down to no fuel. It has a new fuel
pump. Has anyone had this problem. It really is A DAKOTA MYSTERY. Thank
You! DW
