It does sound like your exhaust may be a little too open. If you're really
wanting to get to the bottom of this, you might want to get it dynoed. I
plan on having mine dynoed in about a month once I've got some more mods on
to get some hard data.

I don't know what the gearing change would do for you. It depends on where
your peak power is.
