Okay, it seems to have resolved itself. Once I went through the BIOS setup
I guess it figured out what it needed to do. I now have three partitions of
10 GB each. Now for Partition Magic, then Windows on one of them, then wait
for XP to get here, load my Dak scanner stuff in the third one (Dak
content), and voila, I'm done.

Are you installing this hard drive through a PCI add-in card or direct IDE
to the motherboard?
If direct to the motherboard, it should not have and effect on your Network
card.
If you are using a PCI interface card, try moving it to another open PCI
slot as far away from the network card as possible.
