The boards bios has a setting for ATA, you can set it as auto with
Award bios by selecting auto to the right of where you tell the mother
board the landing zone, sectors etc of the hard disks. The Hard Drive
was conflicting with your printer port, prolly card, if your printer
port(s) are on a card. Otherwise it was conflicting with a PCI card.
When you get that message it is usually not the actual controller that
is conflicting, it a card. A hardware conflict is when two or more cards
and/or devices share the same address or interrupt ranges. The conflict
can be a com, I/Q, interrupt request, memory range, inout/output range,
etc. Some bios have an automatic option that every time you go into the
settings screen/mode that scans for all available resources and sets
them automatically for peak performance. (unless you disable it)
