Don't twist the little pintle when you take it out or you'll be buying a new
one. As long as you're taking that out you might as well take the entire TB
off and give it a good cleaning.

I have seen this problem MANY times, you need to clean or replace the IAC
motor. It is the large cylinder shaped sensor mounted on the back of the
throttle body. You need to pull it off, uses torx screws, and clean it off
with some t-body cleaner (Gumout), and also clean off the inside of the hole
in the T-body. the IAC is responsible for idle speed and could easily cause
the speed to jump to 1500 if it was dirty. The IAC commonly gets carboned
up, especially if you use a K&N air filter (a little of the oil sucks
through and causes it to gum up faster).
