Yes, you can drop it an inch or two in the back, but that is all. I'd try
to go down into the pan from up above first, and leave dropping the pan as
only a last resort.

It may take using two magnets. One to position the lifter, and one to pull
it out. Good luck either way you go.

Dropping the pan may work, even if you cant pull out the pan, you may be
able to drop it down far enough to get your hand or a magnet in there.
