It's beginning to sound like there is a specific low voltage point below
which, the computer will not initialize. And the battery may have enough
capacity to keep the starter engaged and turning below this "cutoff"
voltage. In this situation the truck would never start because the 'puter is
"off".
I'm guessing that this would be below 11 volts. The output of a fully
charged, well maintained battery will drop below 12 volts after ten seconds
(more or less) of cranking.
Any other guesses? :)
