I got a Chrysler extended warranty when I bought the truck.
Shouldn't that be *almost* as good as the regular warranty? I
mean I could understand if I bought some generic extended
warranty. When I picked the truck up the service writer said
something interesting. He said they could have torn into the
front diff and did some testing, but if they didn't find
anything, they'd have to charge me the time and labor to take it
apart and put back together. My point is that if they didn't
find anything, they didn't look hard enough . . . and they're
certainly not going to find the reason for a whirring noise in
the front drivetrain if they don't tear into anything. No
wonder they blamed it on tire noise--what else could it be if
you don't look inside?
The longer story to this whole thing is that I was getting a
chirping noise from the front end when the air temperature was
below like 65. Once the air temp or the truck warmed up, it
whent away. For whatever reason, I waited to get it looked at
until April and by then, it was hit or miss around here to get a
morning cold enough for it to do it. Since they couldn't
replicate the noise, they didn't do any work. Now combine this
whirring/rubbing noise that I've just recently started getting
with the chirpping before and I think its clear something is
wrong with the front end.
Well, thanks for the support. Perhaps I won't buy an extended
warranty ever again. Still I did get that belly gasket taken
care of under the extended warranty, but I doubt if I've gotten
my money's worth yet. Thanks for the support.
