NYC/DC Atrocities

Hey, DML.
I just wanted to mention that after watching the conflagrations in NYC & DC
last nite, I just felt kinda numb & overwhelmed. I was chatting with Andy on
AIM during the evening & I know he took it pretty hard. I guess it just
seemed so surreal to me that it never really sank in. Maybe having been thru
the JFK, RFK & MLK assassinations & having lost friends in NAM, I just
couldn't face the reality & the scope of what occurred in the early hours of
Sep. 11. Jeez, I was in NYC on Sunday for the Yankees/Red Sox & on the way
down I pointed out the Empire State Building & the WTC towers to my girls.
Now they're gone...
Anyway, I went to work this AM & grabbed the NY Post & the NY Daily News. As
I thumbed thru page after page of nothing but mayhem, the enormity of what
happened started to sink in.Then, I turned to the last page of the Daily
News & saw a tattered Stars & Stripes amid the devastation with the caption
"Defiant American flag waves in the rubble of the World Trade Center," and I
started crying in the parking lot of the gas station where I bought the
papers...
God DAMN those cowardly terrorist bastards to HELL!

and...GOD BLESS AMERICA!

I proudly served in the US Army in the early 70's, but if my country needs
me to serve again in order to help to maintain the freedom of my fellow
Americans, I stand at the ready!

(whew! feel better already...)
