I am new to the list, and am sure this has been asked a thousand times,
but here goes.
My 2001 quad cab with automatic 4.7 is looking for a little more power. I
tow a 4,000 pound boat about 300 miles each way to Lake Powell over very
hilly terrain, (hills bigger than the mountains in Maryland where I grew
up).
Altitude renders everything here less powerful,.
Have installed an Airaid intake system. By my seat of the pants dyno I
couldn't really tell if it helped.
Resources are limited. My local exhaust guy says he can install a less
restrictive muffler and 3" pipe for about $200 and says this will give
only a minor boost in power, but will compliment the airaid.
Jet sells a chip that is said to increase about 18 horses. Cost is around
$300.
Soooo, any suggestions. Anybody have any hard data? Like a dyno run?
Anybody have experience at getting more power at altitude?
