The 4.7L IS the "Next Generation 5.2L". It is being used in all the same
applications that the 5.2L was- Jeep GC,
V8(non-R/T)Dakotas,Durango,intermediate engine for 1/2 ton Ram. The larger
engine, slated to be a 5.7L, will likely take the place of most or all the
jobs a 5.9L has right now. There is talk of an even larger V8 being
introduced, somewhere along the lines of a 6.1L, to bridge the gap between
the 5.7L and the V10. This is similar to what GM has done for it's GMT800
platform trucks. They have a base V6(4.3L), a 4.8L(small V8,took the place
of the L30/305/5.0L), a 5.3L(intermediate/do-all engine, took the place of
the L31/350/5.7L), a 6.0L(larger V8 engine, bridges the gap between the 5.3L
and the big-block), and the 8.1L(Big-block, big-inch engine, replaced the
L29/454/7.4L engine). HTH,

I thought I saw a post awhile back regarding a larger engine that chrysler
will be releasing using the same design/technology as the 4.7, only in a
larger engine (5.?)

Is this just a rumor, or are there plans for its release?
