Selling stuff

Hey everyone. Just a thought to share. I was selling a bunch of stuff
that I received great deals on when I got it and tried to help everyone
in the group by passing on the deals to you. Unfortunately, I was
mistaken on one item in the amount that I had. Even though a shitload
of Earls fittings went out to that person as a good will gesture (and to
clear out my garage!), I misquoted the length of fuel line. I thought
the rolls were 20 feet each, they were actually 10 feet each. At $16
per roll, that is still a steal! Anyway, here is the question I put to
you.

Since this person already received the additional fittings at no charge,
they still want reimbursement for my mistake on the lengths of hose,
$16. This has become an issue of semantics at this point. The mistake
was admitted openly, but since the person involved that bought the stuff
from me refuses to realize the value of the fittings. He wants to get
his money and obviously tout about it to his buddies. I have tried to
be a nice guy about it all along, but this is obviously getting
pathetic.

What is your opinion. I won't mention names and such about the
situation. My offer was to return everything and I would refund his
money or he could send back all the free fittings and I would send his
$16 back. Seems fair since he is making such a fuss over it and I did
toss the stuff in for him just being a nice guy.

This is why I post this. First for your opinion and second to caution
everyone out there selling anything to anyone you are not close friends
with directly, not via the internet. Be forewarned that trying to be a
nice person only gets people thinking they can stomp on you and then
trash your name. This is the last time I sell anything anyone via the
internet.

Thanks for your advice.

Jim
