What are ya gonna do about rims, run six lug on the front and five lug on
the back, or have your axles and drums custome drilled to six, or the front
hubs and rotors drilled for five in the front?

This is a good question....we had some wheels we run on the charger 15x8 with
a 3 1/2 offset...because the fury rims had a drum face to drum face very close
to the dakota's ...the tire would have stuck out of the fenderwells....the
pressing
issue is that we have 4 drivers in the household with 4 vehicles...the dakota is
my
"good" vehicle that my wife drives to work.....so get it back on the road , led
to what some may consider a "butcher job".
We drilled the spare rim and the 2 back ARE767 wheels to fit 5 bolt on 4 1/2
circle
The tires we have are 255/60s on the front and 295/50's on the back so we
weren't
worried about 4 wheel tire rotation.
We used the fury drums as a template using care to make sure the center holes
were even around the total circumference. The final drill size we used was
9/16th
and our run out measured on the rim edge ended up less than .005...the front
wheels (that weren't drilled had the same numbers....so we think we are ok....)
The "key" hole and two holes opposite gave a good reference and we put studs and
lugs through each hole after we drilled them....the two holes closest to the
"key" hole
run into the existing holes. These we drilled in steps from the 1/8 " pilot hole
in steps
to the final 9/16th of an inch. After each hole we checked to make sure the
center hole
spacing hadn't changed.....maybe this is a time to say "don't try this at
home".....but
we did...seems to work....we hope to find some ARE 767 in 5 on 4 1/2 with the
dak offset,
but will run what we got for now....
One could use a wire welder to fill the holes that that are run into....and
redrill.....
A change to 91 front rotors would give us the 5 on 4 1/2 all the way around...
This swap entailed a road trip from Phoenix to Holbrook to get the 8 3/4
housing...and
getting the dakota back on the road by Sunday night after the 8 1/4 taking a
dump on
Friday at 5 in the afternoon...it was a busy weekend......
The fury rear is a 3.23 ratio...we'll see how the milage does as I think the
318 in the Dak can
more than carry the steeper ratio...the other was 3.55.... still lites the
tires...posi needed....
hope any of this helps...
