Hi guys, Im having a problem with my brakes on my 91 Dak Sport 4x4 reg cab.
The back brakes don't work for crap. It has brand new brakes on the back
and ive bled and bled and bled em. When I am backing down a hill or even
going forward down a slick hill in 2 wheel drive the front wheels lock and
slide like crazy. I have also jacked the back up and tightened the brakes
manually until i could barely turn the tire, still didn't help. They bled
good but im not sure about the pressure they were pushing out the back.
What could it be? Could it be the proportioning valve (hydraulic control
valve) or could it be froze brake cylinders (not likely both rears would be
froze at same time tho)? I asked the guy at the dealership and he said that
all dakotas up to late 90's had shitty rear brakes. He said the
proportioning valve in em was a 60%/40% front/rear valve. He also said his
97 dak had shitty back brakes too.
Is there anything I can do cause im tired of using the emergency brake as a
foot brake when backing down a driveway? lol
Thanks,
Scott
